Thirty prints in thirty days has been an amazing challenge, a huge amount of fun, and a project that just took off. I will stop it now. What is going to happen next?
I have given this a lot of thought. Those thoughts include, “I would really like to have Saturday and Sunday to work on longer projects, drawings, larger prints, or a “play day” out in the snow. I also want to print linoleum blocks onto soft cotton t-shirts and offer t-shirts.
For the month of February the project will look like this:
1. A new print Monday through Friday, still 8″ x 10″ still $20. 5 prints per week instead of 7.
2. No prints, no posts on Saturday and Sunday
3. I will use the weekend to carve larger blocks for t-shirts and offer 1-shirt a week. I will also offer your choice of color on the t-shirt. This will be a different image from the art prints.
See you on Monday!
Please send me your ideas and thoughts. I love hearing them.
Be Mine! Linocut
On the last day of 30 prints in 30 days, we are only 2 weeks away from Valentines Day. What could be more fitting than a Be Mine! Linocut. This 6″ x 4″ image on 10″ x 8″ Rives BFK. On Etsy
I know it is a bit hard to see as the print looks black at the top, but it is dark magenta! There is a rainbow roll from red to magenta and each one is slightly different. You can see in the table of prints.
Table of Valentines
Also I made a narrower print, still BFK paper but it is 10″ x 6″ and blank at the bottom so you can write in your own message to that special person.
BeMine Print along side Write in Valentine Print
BIG SPECIAL – If you buy the 10″ x 8″ print which you can see here you can add the write in print for only $5.00 (50% off!) by using the code, “BeMine” I printed 50 of the narrow write in prints, order as many as you like. On Etsy
10″ x 6″ write in print
Wow 30 prints in 30 days concluding with a lot of love for all of you. Your support has been overwhelming! This is what the whole month looks like:
30 prints in 30 days!
Don’t worry, I will not stop here. Tomorrow’s post will outline just how this daily print project will continue. That’s right, it will continue!
It is Pandaemonium! Now on Etsy, An 8″ x 10″ linocut in an edition of 10. The image size is 5″ x 7″ a little bigger than my usual 4″ x 6″ because I wanted to get a lot of Panda details.
Check out this whole table of panda’s. You probably know that panda’s are from China, but did you know that they grow as large as 250 pounds and eat bamboo almost exclusively? I wonder if that could happen to me, if I ate enough kale?
In planning the future of these daily prints, I did a little printing experiment. What do you think?
Linocut Printed T-shirt
I am thinking a small line of t-shirts might be very interesting. Let me know.
I have a damselfly for your dragonfly. These two beautiful linoleum block prints would look great together. The image is 6″ x 4″ printed on 10″ x 8″ Rives BFK, in an edition of 10 is now on Etsy.
There was gorgeous light coming into my studio today when I photographed the whole edition of damselflies.
Table of DamselFlies
Did you know that Dragonflies and Damselflies are prehistoric insects, older than the dinosaur. It is true, you can read about it on the San Diego Zoo website.
The damselfly, like the dragonfly is also a rainbow roll color but the damselfly is yellow to green to blue.
This is day 28 of making one print a day for 30 days. Three of the editions are sold out and there is incredible support to keep going. I never dreamt this would take off like it did, but all of you are amazing to keep coming back, checking out the prints, and giving them great homes. I love the stories you send me and please you are welcome to post photos of your displayed prints on my FB page. On January 30th I will let you know how the project will continue to unfold.
Here are detail thumbnails of all the prints, which you can also see and collect on Etsy.
30 prints in 30 days
From the world of magic at speeds of up to 30mph comes the dragonfly. This 6″ x 4″ image on 10″ x 8″ Rives BFK, in an edition of 10 is now on Etsy.
I have a whole table of 10 Dragonflys drying.
Printed in a rainbow roll of pink to magenta to blue it looked amazing next to the blue/grey elephants I printed yesterday.
Dragonfly vs elephant
It is hard to believe that so far 27 prints in 27 days, along with a few bonus prints. Three days to go to complete 30 prints in 30 days. But the fun is just starting here at Stonetrigger Press. I have a big announcement to make on the 30th as to where this 30 prints in 30 days project is headed. And it is very exciting!
30 prints in 30 days
I want the elephant to be my spirit animal! They walk almost noiselessly, with exceptionally graceful and rhythmic striding, unlike me as I lumber away in my running. Elephants communicate telepathically with herd members as well as other elephants. Whoa, I want to communicate telepathically. Can you hear what I am communication right now? I didn’t think so but it was worth a try.
This is a good looking elephant and there are 10 waiting on Etsy for you.
Elephant fun fact:
Elephants have 4 teeth, all molars.
Elephant tusks point backwards. They use them as weapons and for digging edible roots.
Elephants have emotions that are comparable to human – love, joy, jealousy, rage.
As well as being the largest land animals, they are also among the longest lived, with life spans of 60+ years.
To bring us up to date on the 30prints is 30 days, this is number 26. All are printed onto 8″ x 10″ paper in an edition of 10 and only $20. They are released daily and available on Etsy.
30 prints in 30 days
Conrad, age 7
Conrad, linoleum block print, now on Etsy.
This is Conrad, one of my two Labradors. He was a rescue as a puppy from North Shore Animal Shelter, NY. Yesterday we had a rough day, Conrad, Homer and I ran into a pack of feral dogs while out on our walk. Conrad got a bit on his hind quarters. We spent all morning in the vets office getting him fixed up. Homer was so sad, he just stood stunned and crying after I got the dogs to run away. I have never seen anything like it. But if you know labs, they are happy within seconds of just about anything!
This print is for Conrad, my rough and tumble, used to be afraid of everything dog, now friendly as can be and totally happy-go-lucky, even with big tooth holes in his leg. Conrad is a very special dog. He even likes his print.
2nd take Hilary and Conrad
This is print 25 of 30 in a project of 30 prints in 30 days. Each image is 4″ x 6″ printed onto Rives BFK paper. They are printed in an edition of 10 and always only $20 and available on Etsy.
Look who came to print
Look who showed up at my house today, none other than Jim Lorenz, my Pop. I have not seen him in 2 years, he lives almost 1500 miles north east of here. I am glad I was home, it was completely unexpected.
He had driven with my older sister, whom I have no idea when the last time I saw her was, from L.A. where she was living. She is moving to Chicago and they decided to pass through.
I gave Melissa and my Pop a quick printmaking demo. He chose to print an Elk.
Inking up the plate
I let him wear my handmade Italian leather apron. He quickly learned to lay out the ink and use the brayer to ink up the plate.
Jim Lorenz putting the paper down
After putting the plate on the press bed, he put down the paper and then the cover board.
The behold, a new Elk print! He made three and took them with him. I could see he got a huge kick out of it, so did I. You can see he is pleased in the top photo.
They only stayed a couple hours, but we did get in a walk at Plaza Blanca and lunch at Bodes. I had already pulled today’s print before they got to my house. I would say, it was a pretty darn good day!
Framed Pink Kitten
This kitty is silly, and pink. Why pink? I am not sure but we all need some ridiculousness every now and then. Pink Kitty is on Stonetrigger Press Etsy for $20, there is an edition of 10. She is 4″ x 6″ on an 8″ x 10″ Rives BFK paper.
Valentines Day is coming soon, maybe that is why she showed up? I am not sure but there is a table of them ready to find a home.
